What is vacuum drying?
Vacuum drying removes moisture from solids by reducing the pressure around the product. At lower pressures, water and solvents evaporate at much lower temperatures, protecting heat-sensitive pharmaceutical compounds from degradation.
MAVAG vacuum dryers combine low-pressure operation with gentle agitation and efficient heat transfer. The result is fast, uniform drying without damaging the product.
For pharmaceutical applications, vacuum drying also provides complete containment. Operators are protected from exposure to potent compounds, and the product is protected from contamination.
MAVASPHERE® Spherical Dryer
The MAVASPHERE® is MAVAG's signature spherical vacuum dryer. The unique spherical design provides optimal heat transfer and gentle product mixing as the vessel rotates.
With no internal agitator, there are no seals in contact with the product, eliminating a potential source of contamination and simplifying cleaning validation.

Paddle Dryers
MAVAG paddle dryers use a horizontal agitator with heated paddles to provide intensive mixing and heat transfer. The large heated surface area enables fast drying of even difficult products.
Paddle dryers are ideal for products that require intensive mixing during drying, or for breaking up agglomerates to achieve uniform particle size.

MAVAG dryers are constructed from high-grade stainless steel (316L or higher) with electropolished wetted surfaces. All designs meet ASME BPE standards for pharmaceutical applications.
Special materials including Hastelloy and glass-lined steel are available for corrosive applications. Every dryer is designed and manufactured in Switzerland.
